"Finding Their Roots."

A big improvement from their last album in my opinion, getting closer to the sound i wish they had. I'm always looking for bands that are in between the metalcore bands today like the word alive, motionless in white, miss may i, etc... and the older "Emo" music as many people referred to it as such as three days grace, simple plan, afi, etc... I love screaming in music it's a very powerful element, i feel it's best suited for a song to build up to a very emotional part where there's hardly anyway more powerful to express that emotion than to scream it. but it's rare to find music that wields this element and still keeps to deep, well thought out lyrics and music that uses many different elements of instruments and vocals to their music. I feel the used had this in their music especially when they released "the bird and the worm" and i feel they are finding their roots so to speak. this is definitely a big progression from artwork, which was still a great album all in it's own. keep up the good work!

ummmm what !?!?!?!

ok i freaking love the used. Im from their area and I really feel for them. I love all of their albums all the way up to artwork. But what is this!? I mean come on guys dubstep really? get original here. It's what all the bands are doing now days. Why can't we get back to the days when punk was paunk, metal was metal, and the used was the used. Now everything is punk mixed with electric, metal mixed with electric, and now my worst nightmare has come true. the used mixed with electric. I understand music progression and everything, but this is not it, this is the same old great the used mixed with crappy electric. I really hope Bert and the guys read this. Cuz my heart goes out to them just please go back to the days of your self titled album!

Album is 5 stars, BUT

Why is Machine a bonus track?!? it's the best song off the album that was not released already (Hands and Faces, I Come Alive, and Now That You Are Dead. that was posted on the Warped Page) but cmon!!

Formed: 2001 in Orem, UT

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

The members of the Used had to overcome poverty, homelessness, and substance abuse, not to mention the straitlaced attitudes of their hometown of Orem, Utah, to bring their screamo-tinged brand of post-hardcore to life. But they persevered and earned a contract with Reprise Records, releasing their self-titled debut album in June 2002. Having only played a handful of shows around Orem prior to their record's release, the band -- vocalist Bert McCracken, guitarist Quinn Allman, bassist Jeph Howard,...
