Album Review

Breezy jazz-funk, a little bit of disco, and porn soundtracks inform Tim "Love" Lee's debut, all produced with a variety of late-'70s and early-'80s B-movie soundtrack staples like cheap synthesizers, sarod, bongos, vocoder and vibes. The only concessions to the '90s are the beats — edgy, well-programmed and just enough of a presence to lift Confessions of a Selector above the many stale trip-hop and nu-disco albums released around the same time.

Fuzzy memories

I remember when this album dropped, soon after I started my long slide into electronic music. Funkier than Hammer's socks. Good to see iTunes dusting off the classics.

Archives like Fort Knox!

I'm with individual below - I loved this record from the second I listened to it one time through! Tim Lee may owe me royalties too, lol - I had our indie record store ordering this CD like 10-15 a week for like nine months! It was wild. Folks would roll over after club night ai would pop that disc in and at LEAST 5-10 peeps ask who it is and write it down...walking across campus people would be yellin, "AYYYYYYE! JB! TIM LOVE LEE - I GOT IT!"

...and yep, it's THAT good. Better than Mr. Micropohne - which may have been used in recording this effort from the magnificent Tim love Lee.

This is the ninth record in a few weeks that I was MORE THAN SURE NO ONE WOULD HAVE.'

Now it's a game iTunes. Stump iTunes...I DJed for 17 years and produce now and have lost a lot of really rare and GOOD far you have came up with three!!!

Throwing you a curveball in the next couple days...and it you have THIS ONE - you are BOSS as HELL!!!

A trip-hop producer who also appears influenced by the smarmier side of Italian soft-porn soundtracks and the singles-bar scene, Tim "Love" Lee formed his own Peace Feast and Tummy Touch labels in 1996 to release tracks by Groove Armada, Waxploitation and his own name. Singles like "Again Son," "Ruffbut" and "Nu Pholk Sound" treated trip-hop with an earthy edge. "Badder Bongo" was the trailer for his first LP, Confessions of a Selector, which was released in Britain in 1998. An American...
