Album Review

Continuing with the sound an spirit of his new millennium Californian makeover, 2009's American Sunshine picks up the thread from 2007's Are You Lookin' at Me?, offering a cheerfully mellow collection of easy rolling folk-pop. Hay's touch remains light, never pushing either his melodies or his wry quips yet relying on them both to fuel these gently charming songs. He remains infatuated with what happens under the Southern Californian sun, whether it's rhapsodizing over the state itself or cherishing a flirtation with a shop girl, and it's easy to share his affections thanks to his easy, tasteful tunes.

I'd been chewing my nails waiting for this and it was worth every once of resulting blood from my raw fingertips.
