The UK band of the mid-70's

I'm guessing this is the UK band of the mid-70's and not the Canadian band of the 80's. (Correct me if I'm wrong). Their sound is OK. "Walk Away Renee" is probably the best song on the album. I'm a big fan of the Left Banke version, but this one is suprisinly good. They do a fairly good job covering "I Love Rock 'n Roll", but you may find it hard to digest if you grew up on the Joan Jett version (even though they pre-dated her by a decade).

First hit is a must

Yep. These are the Arrows of the 70's from London. I knew Paul Varley back then. It was an awesome time for music. I still have the first pressing of their LP with "first hit". You have to take a listen to Alans vocals, Pauls solid drumming Jakes guitar. Great times guys. Thnx

Arrows "Walk Away Renee / Dreamin"

The Arrows broke up in 1977 and left behind a lot of unreleased tracks, including these two title tracks and the other songs on this extended play single. Producer Mickie Most shelved a lot of Arrows material he recorded with the group in 1974 and 1975 and here are a few examples with "Walk Away Renee" and "Dreamin" laying dormant in the vaults at Abbey Road for decades, only to be released in recent years. Included here is a mix of "I Love Rock N Roll" which is an Arrows song from 1975 that has certainly stood the test of time. The bonus tracks are from the band's pre-Arrows 1972 incarnation (as a unit called Streak) with Arrows founding members Alan Merrill, Jake Hooker and a pre-"Frampton Comes Alive" John Siomos on drums. All in all a fine collector's item for fans of seventies British rock and pop music.
