Produced by Adam Schmitt, Angie Heaton's sophomore solo record snaps, crackles, and pops with more attitude and assurance than her debut. From the sassy exuberance of "Flying" to the lovely melancholy of "Hydroplane," Sparkle is thoroughly charming, and what it lacks in finesse it makes up for in honesty and character. Bonus points for the great cover of "Walk Away Renee," which unfolds with altogether new meaning and poignancy.
