Only getting BETTER with each new album!

Raw. Beautiful. Poignant. Still so fresh but always with an edge...Wagler's voice has a depth beyond his years and Lapp's mandolin sings all on its own. This is an album you wil want to listen to over and over, and then some more.

Red Wing - The real deal

The Shenandoah Valley band "The Steel Wheels" have hit the mark with the release of "Red Wing." Trent Wagler's twitchy tenor anchors the band with a voice that is somehow both current and evocative of old-time singers. Occupying the twilight between bluegrass, americana, and old-time folk music, "Red Wing" floats in the same genre as "Old Crow Medicine Show (another band with Valley roots) and "The Waybacks". Highlight tracks for me are "Valley", "Song for the Unsung", and title track "Red Wing" which includes Robin and Linda Williams on guitar and banjo backing up Wagler, along with Lapp on mando, Dickel on bass, and Brubaker on fiddle. "The Steel Wheels" are the real deal.

Red Wing

This band never fails to impress and this latest album is no exception. I was fortunate enough to attend their CD release show for Red Wing (living in VA I've been lucky to see them often) so let me use that to transition into urging all to see them live if you have the chance. You'll be able to say you saw them before they were super stars.
