iTunes Review

It’s rarely wise to judge a book by its cover, but when a band named HELLYEAH (in all caps) releases an album titled Band of Brothers, it’s safe to assume the music will rock hard and loud. Of course, some simple research would confirm this. The band includes members of Mudvayne, Pantera, Danzig, Nothingface, and Damageplan—yet still nothing could prepare listeners for the raw brutality of the opening song, “War in Me,” which wastes no time blasting out a feral metallic force. Chad Gray sounds like he’s ripping his throat raw on the title track, which chugs on Sabbathesque guitars and some of Vinnie Paul’s heaviest drumming. Gray’s metered phrasing treads close to that of a hip-hop emcee before erupting with a bloodcurdling howl in the libation-consuming anthem “Drink Drank Drunk.” Bob Zilla’s big and beefy bass notes drive “Bigger God” like a steroidal Alice in Chains. A token ballad surfaces in the acoustic-based “Between You and Nowhere,” but it resonates with a darkened coolness similar to Pantera’s cover of “Planet Caravan.”

Just Get Over It

Hellyeah is clearly meant to be the "new" Pantera. Without Dimebag it wont ever really be but if you listen to the rythym sections and drums its very Panteraesque...Chad can scream alot like Phil did, granted its a different sound, but who cares, this s%#t rocks. If you have ever seen them live, then you really get it. These guys bring it 110% everytime...keep it up Hellyeah, F the haters.

suuuuure would be nice to have MUDVAYNE back!!!!!!

Very Good

Hellyeah never ceases to please me. They never change their style. (Thats good).

Heavy metal "supergroup" Hellyeah formed in 2006 in Dallas, Texas around the talents of Mudvayne's Chad Gray (vocals) and Greg Tribbett (guitar), Nothingface's Tom Maxwell (guitar) and Jerry Montano -- the latter also played with Danzig -- and Pantera/Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott. The group's self-titled debut was released in April 2007 on Epic Records. Shortly after the album was released, Montano left the band and was replaced by Damageplan bassist Bob Zilla. With a new bassist in place,...
