Very Atmospheric

10 Years is definitely your basic cookie-cutter nu-metal band and if you don't like nu-metal you probably won't like this CD or this band. But one thing that does set them apart from the pack is the vocals. Amazing, soaring, and vibrant. Sometimes you catch hints of Tool/A Perfect Circle's tone and volume in the verses and then sky-high choruses or bridges like Doug Robb from Hoobastank. Another point of interest is the guitar work. Yeah, it's nu-metal so no solos, but it's full bodied guitarwork without OVERDUBBING. The bass and drums all fit in and offset the other parts in certain songs. All things considered, if 10 years can land a big hit in the near future, they'll be on the map for good because they have the tools to progress as musicians beyond the level they're at now. And that is very high. 5 stars get this now.

An excellent first release

After listening to the free song on iTunes I bit my tongue thinking that this was a Tool/Perfect Circle clone. I kept listening to it over a couple days, and then decided to purchase the whole album. The samples eluded to something far deeper, causing me to reconsider my initial thoughts. What I found was that 10 years not only stood on its own, but was taking their music and lyrics into far greater detail. The vocals are outstanding and harmonious. Jesse’s voice is ethereal and as much an instrument as the hard metal guitars hitting each note and word perfectly. The bass line and drums drive their point. The eerie piano and strings version of The Autumn Effect is an aural buffet that satisfies even the most critical ears.

Stunning...

This is one of my favorite albums, by far. The amazing lyrics woven with heavy guitars and drums really make this band stand out. They remind me a lot of Tool, just more current. Songs like Wasteland and Seasons to Cycles cast a lonely, painful shadow over you, engulfing you in the powerful feelings fueling them. Half Life and Prey are great hard rock songs that will really pump you up. Excellent buy, worth every cent!
