11 Songs, 43 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Inspired by ambient dubstep and acts such as Everything But the Girl and Portishead, London Grammar's If You Wait is white-hot, a melancholy triumph of mood and nuance. With mournful pianos and jazzy breakbeats, soaring strings, and delicate guitars—all of it anchored by Hannah Reid's freight train of a voice—the album handily transcends easy comparisons to groups like The xx and Florence + The Machine. "Wasting My Young Years" sets Reid's wistful regrets against a backdrop of pianos and a shuffling house beat, while "Metal & Dust" incorporates a slinking garage rhythm. Then there are songs like "Strong," the sonics of which (pianos, guitars, a distant beat) mostly just smolder under Reid's colossal cooing.

Legends In The Making

Absolutely breathtaking from start to finish ~ this album has been on repeat for hours and never gets old. Haunting vocals with dreamy melodies that will capture your heart and soul. Refreshing to discover such young talent with an old soul. Can't wait to hear what they'll create down the road, but "If You Wait" will always be pure gold.

absolutely mesmerizing

I've had this album for some time now and first heard London Grammar's "Sights" on 89.3 The Current while driving to work. Since then I listen to this whole album just about every other day. Hannah has such a mezmerizing voice. Dot does a great job with the keyboard and percussion and I believe he has some of the best timing when accompaning Hannah's voice especially with the keyboard. Dan seems like he does very simple, yet effective, guitar work and when everything comes together from all three, it really creates some powerful sounds and rhythms. I could also tell right away that Hannah is an "old soul" with her thought-provoking lyrics. This is a great album and I recommend it to anyone that loves great music!
