iTunes Review

There are lots of reasons why this is one of the greatest live country albums ever. It was recorded when Jennings’ raw, barnstorming outlaw sound was a fresh revelation to country and rock fans alike. Then there’s the way pedal steel guitarist Ralph Mooney and drummer Richie Albright framed the band’s rugged-but-right-on feel. Most importantly, there’s Waylon himself, feeding off the crowd’s energy as his guts-and-gusto delivery drives the whole thing home on hard-charging mission statements like “I’m a Ramblin’ Man” and “Lonesome, On’ry and Mean.” It’s the sound of an outlaw unleashed.

The Best of All Waylon Albums!

If you are gonna buy one Waylon album, this is the one! This is Waylon in his prime, with the Waylors back in the mid 70's. This live album has a much more energetic feel to it than any other studio album he has out. It is a true epic and classic album to played over and over again. Even after all 42 songs have played, you still want to hear more. This is Waylon at his finest, with many great steel guitar/instrumental solos in each song that give the album the classic Waylon sound. This is a must have for any Waylon fan or anyone who wants to buy just one great album to represent him at his best.

Best Live Recording

This is one of the greatest Live recordings of all time of any genre. It typifies the outlaw country movement of the 70's, and it is the highlight in Waylon's career that is full of highlights. I read somewhere that the best live bands of this era were the Wailers and the Waylors; whether you believe it or not, it's a great quote. You can't go wrong with this one, Hoss!

Waylon's version of "House of the Rising Sun" is the best cut I have come across. The sound quality of this album is superb and you feel as if you were in the crowd. This recording is a must have of any great country music collection.

If any one performer personified the outlaw country movement of the '70s, it was Waylon Jennings. Though he had been a professional musician since the late '50s, it wasn't until the '70s that Waylon, with his imposing baritone and stripped-down, updated honky tonk, became a superstar. Jennings rejected the conventions of Nashville, refusing to record with the industry's legions of studio musicians and insisting that his music never resemble the string-laden, pop-inflected sounds that were coming...
