EDITORS’ NOTES

Easy Rider is more than an iconic soundtrack; it’s an exquisitely programmed trip through the many styles of rock music embraced by hippies and freaks in the ’60s. You’ll discover screw-the-man biker rock (Steppenwolf), bluesy psychedelia (The Jimi Hendrix Experience), West Coast folk rock (The Byrds), and stoned free association (The Holy Modal Rounders). Perhaps the oddest piece is "Kyrie Ellison Mardi Gras": Only the Age of Aquarius could produce a marriage of fuzzy garage rock and ancient Christian prayer by a band called The Electric Prunes.

I'm sorry, but this is definitely NOT the Easy Rider soundtrack. Only the first five tracks were in the movie and several others have been left out. Call it something else, or at least leave off the tracks that were not in the film.

"Partial Album"

doublesmess

You can still get the original soundtrack as a CD. The "Deluxe Edition" is 2 CDs. Number 1 appears to be the same as the original and the second is 19 tunes from the era. Those years of my life are real foggy, but I'm pretty sure none of the 19 were on the soundtrack.

From my foggy viewpoint, this partial album is a real waste of time and money. Buy one of the CDs and rip it. You'll have a much better experience.
