Bittersweet...

I have been listening to this album for over a year, and only recently came to realize exactly how incredible it is. There is a consistent feel to these songs; you can tell they are all by the same artist, but they are all quite different. When I first began listening, the screaming vocals were somewhat of a turnoff. Now I see that they supplement the powerful male and female vocals that dominate the music. Another thing I was surprised about was the lack of profanity of any sort. This music is very, very clean (although the content is somewhat dark; vampires, death, and the like). Every song here contributes to the feel and theme of the album. I love every song; this release is utterly fantastic. Which brings us to the unfortunate reality that the band lineup has drastically changed, and has shifted in a direction I find myself detesting. The female vocals balanced and contrasted very well with the darker male vocals and screams, and those vocals leave with Kerith Telestai. I wish I Am Ghost best of luck, but with the shifting values and profanity present in their new material, I doubt I will continue to support them. If you do buy an album by the band, make it this one.

When will this band catch its rising star?

I was introduced to this band by my 15-year-old daughter. She heard them for the first time on Pandora and has loved them ever since. I took her and one of her friends to one of their concerts in San Jose, CA (it was at a skating rink!) and had a blast. These guys have apparently been around for a few years; but they still book small gigs and drive a van hauling a trailer from town to town. I hope they catch their big break some day; but for now, it's an awesome time to be a fan. You can show up early to a show and catch them in the parking lot and just BS for a while. Then catch them after the show for pics and autographs. Steve is a great guy; really friendly and down-to-earth. Good times.

They Changed (and Blew) My Mind!

I never had a taste for music that screamed or anything of that nature until I heard this band. I would recommend buying this whole album due to it's awesomeness, but my favorite is either Killers Like Candy, or Of Masques and Martyrs.

Biography

Formed: 2004 in Long Beach, CA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s

First, back in the early flush of punk, there was the alluringly spooky Siouxsie and the Banshees, followed quickly by the reunited second go-round of the Damned, when singer Dave Vanian's comic book interpretations of Dracula and other horror-themed subjects were the band's primary focus. Then, in the mid-'80s alongside the multi-genre flowering of goth culture, there was both the hard-edged and punky Los Angeles "death rock" scene established by .45 Grave and Christian Death and the goofy, glammy...
