12 Songs, 45 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Never has such unadulterated glee, desire, and youthful exuberance been so perfectly filtered as it has on anthems like "We Are Young," "All Alone," or "Some Nights"; rarely has a pop vocalist come through such lavish instrumentation and prodigious production with the results Nate Ruess delivers. His voice reaches and stretches, always with enough plaintive sincerity and sparkling energy that it avoids saccharine pop purgatory with room to spare. Producer Jeff Bhasker (who produced Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) knows the meaning of the word "big," and precious few are the studio wizards who know exactly when to rein it in. Some Nights is an undeniably massive record, in all the good ways.

Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics.

Auto tune much?

1st album was great. This album will take some getting used to. Some good songs on here, but too much auto tune. I prefer your natural voice. It's what makes you great. To see this album played in a live performance will be interesting. Please don't disappoint. See you soon.

Great Sophomore Album

Some may say that this album doesn't live up to their fist album, and in many ways it doesn't. But why should a band keep making the exact same music cd after cd? Great job on reinventing yourselves as well as staying true to your roots. Fun. does a great job on this album. My favorite song by far would be "Some Night" because it opens up the albums with a kick. I feel the album does get lost in places, especially with the out of place "It Gets Better." But the albums wraps up surprisingly well. I love the song "Stars" a lot. I hope Fun. stays around for a long time. If they keep putting out music, I'll keep forking out the cash.

More By Fun.
