Album Review

Brian Wilson’s second release for Walt Disney Records finds the Beach Boys mastermind putting his own stamp on 11 classic Disney songs. Working with composer Paul Von Mertens, who wrote the string arrangements for 2004’s SMiLE, Wilson pays homage to the animated Disney films of his youth by reinterpreting songs from Dumbo, The Jungle Book, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Some of the tracks are performed as complex instrumentals. Others are given the full Beach Boys treatment, drenched with layers of sunny harmonies and high-flying falsetto vocals that are as classic as the Disney catalog itself., Rovi

Brian Wilson does a great job with these Disney tunes. Colors Of The Wind has never sounded better. Also Baby Mine how beautiful. Love this cd!

Disney this time around

Brian does a fine job with the material and still sounds great. Baby Mine is one of his best. Nice to hear Brian's arrangements as well. Looking to hear the Rock and Roll album next.

I own every Brian Wilson solo album, and this one is truly my favorite. The songs flow so well together, and they SOUND so good! The backing vocals are beautiful, the instrumentals are top-notch, the arrangements are stunning...and Brian's vocals are the best he's had since his early days with The Beach Boys!

This album has the perfect balance of rocking-tunes and sweet ballads to cater to every Brian Wilson/Beach Boys fan. To me, every song is a standout - you can truly hear the time and effort put into this album.

The album closes with the beautiful harmonies of 'When You Wish Upon A Star'. Unfortunately the album ends so quickly! It is so beautiful and I hope Brian keeps working on more albums! And I thank all those associated with the making of this album - what a great gift to all of us music lovers!

Brian Wilson is arguably the greatest American composer of popular music in the rock era. Born and raised in Hawthorne, California, he formed the Beach Boys in 1961 alongside his two younger brothers, cousin Mike Love, and school friend Alan Jardine. Serving as the group's primary songwriter, Wilson combined the rock urgency of Chuck Berry with the harmonies of the Four Freshmen before expanding his musical imagination during the late '60s, during which time he experimented with new songwriting structures...
