Reseña de álbum

Let's just say that these boys from South Carolina didn't exactly scrap their plans to conquer the world after their critically acclaimed 2006 debut. The band's sweeping, arena-friendly alternative rock returns on this ambitious follow-up. In the short year since Daylight's release, the band's music made it onto television (The Evidence, MTV's Laguna Beach), movies (Employee of the Month), and at major sporting events (the 2006 World Series). They also toured with Train and Collective Soul, the latter of whose frontman Ed Roland shares producing credits on this album with Rick Beato (Shinedown). Whether deliberately or not, there seems to be a distinct likeness to both of their tourmates' sounds, as Needtobreathe combines Train's mastery of mid-tempo adult alternative with Collective Soul's pulsing, straightforward rock. The group dwells less in the Coldplay/Travis corner of the sonic universe this time, sounding more like After Edmund and early-career Oasis. There is no runaway single like "Shine On," although first single "Signature of Divine (Yahweh)" has its share of rich, sweeping gusto. Now that the cat's out of the bag (i.e. their sound no longer commands an aura of mystery and intrigue), the boys seem to have lost just a touch of their pioneering spirit, buut that cannot distract from the album's strong, approachable rock that plays best when cranked to a "10."

This one's for all you "iTunes Surfers"

I have bought so much from iTunes that they should pay me some stock dividends. The two Needtobreathe albums I just purchased are, far and away, the best purchases I've made. If you're like me, you love the 'Listeners Also Bought' section of some of your favorite 'known' artists. I went from Graham Colton to this --- and no offense to Graham --- but this album is mind-blowing. No new act out there can touch these guys in talent. If you're 'turned off' by the notion of a Christian band --- don't be. The song 'Signature of Divine (Yahweh)' is really the only overt religious song and it just so happens to be the best song on the album --- NO MATTER WHAT YOUR FAITH IS. Atheists will rock out to the song! In short, just buy it. If it's your last $9.99 --- buy it. If you love music, you'll get goose bumps because you've just found that CD you've been waiting for. You know, the ones like 'August and Everything After' --- that are bound to be worn out and the first ones you'll mention when your kids get old enough. There's a 'tipping point' out there for this band. In other words, they will be big soon. If not, there's something insanely wrong with the music industry. These guys are the next U2. Only better.

I was a really big fan of the first album and anxious to buy this one, and I am glad I did. The first one was good, but this one was great! The songs don't all sound the same like the first album, and the songs were much better. Spare The Time- dumb, don't buy Restless- now restless was cool! has one of the coolest drum intros a song can have. 4 Stars Again- now this one was good but not great, kinda plain. 3 Stars Return- they did a really good job on this one, they are good at slow songs. 3 Stars We Could Run Away- one of the best on the album, great beat, great lyrics. 5 Stars Streets of Gold- this was good but short, I think it could've been better. 3.5 Stars More Time- It was ok, not one of the better ones, kinda drags. 3 Stars Signature of Divine ( Yahweh )- amazing all around, great worship song 5 Stars Looks Like Love- Its good but not great. 3.5 Stars The Heat- great tempo, one of the best, nicely put together. 4.5 Stars Nothing Left To Lose- very good song, a rockier one, one of my favorites. 4.5 Stars Moving On- very underated song, probably the best put together on the album. 4.5 Stars Washed By the Water- one of the best, but I think they could've added another verse at the end to make it better. 5 Stars Second Chances- I don't listen to it much, but they do a very good job with it. 4 Stars *MUST BUYS* Restless, We Could Run Away, Yahweh, The Heat, Nothing Left to Lose, Moving On, Washed By the Water, and maybe Streets of Gold

This Blew Me Away!

Normally a band that puts out an album that is a great hit has a hard time beating the previous album. I don't know if this one tops their first one but it certainly ties it. I LOVE many of these songs on the CD. If you are looking for a few singles to download you must check out: 10. Moving On 3. Again 2. Restless 8. Yahweh Great CD. I'd honestly give it more than 5 stars if I could.
