It's just like it's titled, "Awethentic"

Enock, formerly of The Cross Movement, releases his first solo album on Much Luvv Records. Enock became a pioneer with this album. He paved the way for hip-hop to be honest. I really like this CD for it's transparency and vulnerability. I heard that during his years with The Cross Movement he was struggling with some of the issues he shares about on this CD. Apparently, he wanted help but didn't get the help he needed to work through some of the things he was struggling with. You can hear some of his hurts through his lyrics and delivery, on which he tends to sound a bit bitter, but he seems to understand that he needs to take responsibility for what he had done. In being real with the audience about his own issues, he also exposes the issues within the Church. I think the one thing I learned from hearing this album was that, as Christians we don't seem to know that it's okay to mess up and struggle with sin. Since we feel this way, we cover up our faults and do not open up about them. We tend to look phony trying to "have it all together", when we're really just fooling ourselves. It's silly really. This kind of thing stems from our insecurity. Anyway, the beats are dope. There's some upbeat songs that would be club-worthy and there's serious songs that would be classroom-worthy (on the college level), in the sense that they make you think. I remember the group Bruthaz Grimm being similar to Enock here in their transparency. They had strong faith, and yet were open about their struggles. I think we all need to become transparent to some extent in our music, as Christians. This IS our witness,...being in absolute need of the blood of Jesus to cleanse us from all our sins. God bless!

Enock, Rest In Him

October 17, 2009 - Enock passed away and went to be with the Lord. It hit me hard that life on this earth is limited and we are not guaranteed everyday. To glorify Him is gain and to die to self is gain. God used him in special ways. His rapping style for truth and with rhythm is really special: he rapped with truth and a point-blank style that his lyrics resonated in your heart. Try his song "Liberation," a song about what he is about. I enjoy the classical/jazzy sample he uses that amplifies his vocal sound. Thank you Enock for being a blessing on this earth...and I will see you soon.

RIP Juan "Enock"James

I picked this album up years ago.. I'm glad this is a real, truthful CD about living the Christian life. He didnt have to hide of the things he did. We all shouldnt hide, but to sharpen iron together. Thanks and Praise to God for using him as a tool to the music industry. You won be forgotten James..Grace and bLessings
