Album Review

Following on from his chart success as a featured artist on Jessie J's single "Price Tag," Bobby Jay Simpson — better known as B.o.B — releases his third studio album, Underground Luxury. This record features the singles "We Still in This Bitch," "All I Want," "Ready," and "Headband," and includes collaborations with the likes of Future, 2Chainz, T.I., and Chris Brown.

So... Underground Luxury

I'll say this first: B.o.B is my favorite artist.

I am seriously not quite sure if this album will be good at all. I love almost everything this guy's done, ever since his first mixtape in 2007. But he's become a bit full of himself. And by a bit, I mean a lot. And unfortunately this is easily shown in his music. I am hoping for good on this album, but I'm expecting the worst. Here's how I'll rate the singles....

•We Still In This B: 3.5/5
The only one of the singles I can actually say I like. However just the fact that is the same guy that put his heart into his lyrics and did this very foreign thing called "singing" very recently... It makes me dislike the song more.

•Headband: 1/5
This song... I hate every single thing about it. I can't even say anything more. The beat is like something my five year old brother would come up with. And the lyrics sound like something that a five your old Lil Wayne would come up with.

•Ready: 3/5
Eh.... Aside from the fact that this is the guy who used to make such masterpieces as he did; I don't hate it, but I don't necessarily "like" it either.

•All I Want: 2/5
This song makes me want to puke lyrically. No more, no less. The only reason it got a 2 is because the beat is a bit catchy.

With all this being said, I'm extremely disappointed with where Bobby's going. In one of my favorite songs from his debut album, the chorus said
"maybe one day we can go,
Hand and hand down a golden road;
And if I get there before you go,
I'll be waiting at the door;
In the future, hopefully,
We'll be together you and me;
Don't you worry baby please,
cause honestly...
If I could rewind
Both the hands of time
Still I would never find
A lovelier design
Than you.
Nothing's lovelier than you."

Three years later, this is apparently the best he could come up with:
"All I want is money; money money money"

I don't have anything else to say other than that we'll just have to wait and see for this album.

Simply not B.o.B anymore. Really like Strange Clouds and Adventures and this is just too different.

B.o.B. has S.o.L.D O.u.T.

B.o.B. has officially foregone his old ways of rap to fit in with the new crowd of dumpster-fire rappers. Shame to see the label turn such a good artist into an illiterate rapper who knows nothing but the material. Gonna miss the old Bobby Ray.

Born: November 15, 1988 in Decatur, GA

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Of all the rap artists who emerged from Atlanta during the late 2000s, B.o.B -- who was only 17 when he signed his first major-label record deal -- was one of the most unique. His borderline eccentricity and artistic mind, belied by his music's conventional Dirty South sound, raised his stock above that of his Southern contemporaries and welcomed comparisons to OutKast (specifically that group's offbeat half, André 3000). B.o.B also chose his partners wisely, scoring a handful of Top 40 singles during...
