Customer Reviews

Sheesh, people...This is great songwriting.

I love this album. I don't know why people expect these guys not to explore new ground with each album. That is what they have done with each new release and the result is a collection of albums, each with their own distinct personality and feel. Either you like it all, or you just don't get Editors. I was really hating on the last release for 6 months or so until I actually broke down and bought it. I have learned my lesson. I shall not underestimate these guys again.

Took Time

While I was highly anticipating this album sounding similar to In This Light and On This Evening - which I still consider their best endeavor - I was shocked to hear this album sound like "Let Your Good Heart Lead You Home" and "You Are Fading" - which were b-sides to there first album The Back Room. At first I was disappointed that this album felt out of place then I started to think about how similar it must be to a sports team getting new players and having to go back to the basics, to phase one. As I kept listening to this in mind I did start to hear things that they had learned on previous albums. "Sugar" wreaks of In This Light, while a track like "The Phone Book" would've fit perfectly on An End Has A Start. The rest of the album is a beautiful mix of sounds that they haven't touched since The Back Room (mainly on b-sides and songs they didn't think would sell well back then). If you are an Editors fan, pop in every album for a full spin in order and trust me, you will not be disappointed when you put this one in for further inspection.

Key Tracks for the Mildly Interested: Hyena, Get Low, The Weight

New direction

The Editors new music steers them in a new direction. Like a wisp of fresh air. Good to the ears.
