iTunes Editors’ Notes

On his fourth album, A.M., Chris Young moves more confidently into upbeat country territory while reaffirming his strength in romantic balladry. With Nashville veteran James Stroud at the production helm, the native Tennessean plunges into party mode with gusto, adding a touch of swagger to his trademark mellow baritone. Tracks like “Aw Naw,” “We’re Gonna Find It Tonight," and the title tune are steamy celebrations of honky-tonk nightlife, spurred on by crunchy guitars and driving beats. “Nothin’ but the Cooler Left” is a particularly catchy slice of downhome summer fun. Interspersed with the twang-rockers are the sorts of heartfelt love numbers that Young excels in. “Text Me Texas” stands out for its summery rhythm and tech-savvy lyric, while “Hold You to It” has a playfully seductive vibe. Young turns in an especially convincing vocal performance on the pleading piano ballad “Goodbye.” The album closes with “Lighters in the Air,” a fusion of classic country and arena rock that has the feel of a signature concert tune. Young expands his musical reach on A.M. without losing the burly nice-guy charm that made him a star in the first place.

i think cy is the best thing in country music! but after hearing aw naw and AM I have mixed feelings about this album. I dont think it was a good idea to go with a rock theme! he should stick with the direction he was going in with his previous albums and not turn into a jason aldean! I will buy this album because he is my favorite artist i just hope that the rest of the tracks are a lot better than aw naw and that he goes back to what made him the best in my eyes

The best.

It's Chris Young people, no one in country music does it better.
