Customer Reviews

Welcome back, Paul

I first fell in love with his music when I first fell in love back in high school. Although Karen Carpenter, Barbra Streisand and others sang the songs, it was his lyrics and music that made the 70s such a romantic time. Now his new stuff is doing it all over again. I caught him and Melissa Manchester at a concert in Wilmington Delaware a few years ago and was glad to see and hear him again... great duo. In these times of alot of horrible noise coming out of the radio, we need him back to show what great music is all about. His difficult years have aged his voice, but the genius is still there. It's tough to listen to Love Dance and not do just that.. take your partner in your arms, kick down the lights and His music tells the story of falling in and out of love... the good, the bad, the ecstacy, the agony. Thanks Paul.

What happened?

Paul's voice was so distinctive in the 70's, but on this much later album, it's weak, fragile, and a little shaky. The 4-5 star reviewers here are waxing on about past vocal glory, but if someone played this without telling me who it was, I would have said it was someone's grandpa on karaoke night at a senior center. Yeah, I know he's much older and the voice has faded a bit, but I can't see myself buying this. Where is his early stuff?

Always With The Best

I have known your music for all times. I believe you were writing even before you were born. This has some good old and brought in some new for the best possible feelings you can have with your music. I've missed you and so has my daughter Mickie. We are the same age so I truly get the music and always have. Thank you for making a 60's child happy. Jamie Tampa, FL

Paul Williams remains one of America's best recognized all-purpose celebrities in the '70s and '80s -- while plenty of folks are aware that he was a songwriter, vocalist, and instrumentalist, he also acted in movies and television, was a frequent guest on leading talk shows (he appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson over a dozen times), competed on game shows of all sorts, and was as likely to pop up in a Planet of the Apes sequel as he was to write a hit song. But if music was just one...
