Same name, different band

Kelly Hogan this ain't. The original Jody Grind fronted by the amazing talents of Hogan ended with the untimely death of several members in an automobile crash. This appears to be a different band with the same name lifted from the same Horace Silver song. On a totally different note, I am planning to start a band called The Beatles, since a couple of those guys died and no one is using the name.

Not the real Jody Grind

This is not the same Jody Grind as "One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure" and "Lefty's Deceiver." Sara Colb has a nice voice but she is NO Kelly Hogan. They took the name of a popular Atlanta band and they are trying to profit from it.

Classic yet Original

I really think this is a great album, especially for a first effort from a young band. The music verges from soulful/bluesy rock to country-tinged rock to sweet ballads. If you like Janis Joplin, the singer will blow you away! And the songs have some fantastic lyrics, which puts this band in that precious minority of bands that can write well AND play. To sum up, this is definitely some music worth downloading, especially "Drifting" and "Two Exits."

Biography

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s

Singer Kelly Hogan distinguished the band (Bill Taft; guitars, Walter Brewer; drums and Robert Hayes; bass) from any number of alternative groups, as she was a real singer and used her beautiful voice to great effect....
