iTunes Review

After six free mixtapes and countless YouTube videos, Connecticut emcee Chris Webby offers up his official debut EP, There Goes the Neighborhood. Ten tracks deep, it follows his standard formula, with effortlessly wordy and witty verses filled to the brim with brash bravado, chuckle-inducing punchlines, and plenty of rhymes about girls, substances, and his plans for total rap-game domination. There are shades of Eminem in the mix, both in his vocal tone and hyper-dense lyricism, not to mention a knack for simple but consistently catchy production (from Statik Selektah and Sap, among others). Check out the goofy "What I Do," the smooth organ groove of "Skyline," the dreamy drug jam "I'm Gone," and the horn-laced banger "Take Me Home."
