Album Review

Emilie Autumn's Enchant is a sprawling and mystical work of new age chamber music, trip-hop baroque, and experimental space pop. The Malibu multi-instrumentalist may be a little heady for the average rock fan, but her range is impressive, from the TLC-gone-Renaissance cut "How Strange," to the medieval electro-pop of "Rapunzel," and the moody, downright Elton John-esque piano ballad "Ever." At times she sounds like "Tori Amos," at others she's dark and atmospheric like the Creatures. And while less genre variability would serve Autumn's marketability quite well, this misty and boldly theatrical record should please Sarah McLachlan followers, fantasy enthusiasts, and the more adventurous members of Enya's fan base.

Prettyness?? How unlike me O_O

So this CD was definately a long step away from the usual music I listen to (SOAD, MSI, ect), but it was a pleasant variation in my listening schedule. This singer has a beautiful voice and has created 14 original tunes, each with great lyrics. I'm in love with the violins and other such instruments used in this album. Certainly a CD you should get if you want to enjoy some of the pretty side (Or not. It was weird of me too ;) )

pretty music...

emilie autumn is amazing. she is so unique and she dips her angelic voice into so many moods, it's fantastic. at first, i wasn't sure whether i should give her a chance, because i really wasn't touched by the black pixie dust her voice gives off. i thought her voice was meh-ish and her songs were too slow. but, something about her intrigued me, so whenever i got bored i would come sample her music off itunes. the more i sampled the music, the more it grew on me. until that faithful day, i decided i wanted to purchase the physical album (i went on a huge quest for this). the only thing i regret is doubting her. her music is so pretty. i especially like save you and what if. by the way her notes in the physical cd are amazingly haunting... can i get some feedback please?
