Album Review

The New Tweedy Brothers' sole record starts out strong. "Somebody's Peepin'" sounds like a more pop-savvy Charlatans, and "I Can See It" is somewhat reminiscent of Surrealistic Pillow-era Jefferson Airplane with its major minor harmonies and alternately liquid-clean and distorted guitar lines. Which makes the rest of the album's humdrum material — largely mediocre good-time blues-rock, or goofy psychedelia that's not very funny or well-written — quite a letdown, and considerably dampens expectations of finding a lost gem.
