Album Review

Franklin, Tennessee alt rock trio Colony House's debut album, When I Was Younger, followed three self-released EPs and crystallized the band's bright, optimistic, and pleasantly naive sound. Kicked off by lead single "Silhouettes," the band runs through 14 tunes that call to mind the best aspects of their contemporaries (Vampire Weekend, the Killers, Cold War Kids, Arcade Fire) as well as some of the same spirit of alternative rock royalty such as U2 or the Talking Heads. The album relies on musical clarity and the confessional songwriting style of singer/guitarist Caleb Chapman, whose songs often touch on painfully honest moments from his own life.

The next BIG thing!

We had the privilege of hearing these guys sing while in Israel together. My husband and I left HUGE fans and have been counting down to the release of their new album. We are so excited to watch this journey unfold for them and honored we heard them play before they were big 'stars'. Blessing and congratulations to you guys!!!

Love these guys!

CALEB was agreat band, but Colony House is even better! Love these guys and everything they have done musically. FANTASTIC live too.

Fantastic band!

I’ve been listening to these guys back to their beginning as Caleb, & I can’t say enough good things about what they do. Caleb & Will’s father, Steven Curtis, has been a musical hero of mine for years, & I love hearing the talent and progression of his sons and their friends with every new piece of material. Pick this up, get their EP, & go back and pick up the Caleb material, as well. Worth your money & your time in every respect!

Caleb and Will Chapman, sons of contemporary Christian pop superstar Steven Curtis Chapman, began making music with friend Scott Mills in 2009, forging a bright indie rock sound influenced by alt-rock legends like U2 as well as more contemporary influences such as Cold War Kids. The trio initially went by the name Caleb, but changed their handle to Colony House in 2013, borrowing the name from an apartment complex in their home of Franklin, Tennessee, where all three musicians had lived at...
