12 Songs, 42 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Though Luke Combs was only 27 upon the release of this debut album, his deep, burly pipes bear the vocal gravitas of someone with a lot more miles in their rearview mirror. And whether the North Carolinian is getting reflective on the slow-rolling title track, digging into a four-on-the-floor country rocker like "When It Rains It Pours," or playing with pop hooks on “Hurricane,” he leans all the way in for maximum impact.

Been waiting for Combs to put out an album for 5 years now. Some really great tracks on here. Hurricane, Out There, Beer Can, Memories are Made Of, and This Ones For You were all tracks on his previous EP released in 2015. The rest are new songs Combs has been working on for years. When It Rains, It Pours does a different take on a heartache song, a feel good upbeat melody. One Number Away is a an absolute smash, one of the songs Luke has been previewing for years. I Got Away with You is probably the best written song on the album, and really came out sharp. Many many great songs on this album, it is a must buy for a country music or music fan for that matter. Combs gonna be the biggest name in country.

About Luke Combs

A native of Asheville, North Carolina, country singer/songwriter Luke Combs took joy in singing from a young age. During his high school years, Combs split his time between football and singing in local vocal groups, eventually picking up the guitar while attending college at Appalachian State. Taking inspiration from some of country's leading men like Tim McGraw and Luke Bryan, he began writing songs and soon released a pair of EPs in 2014. In 2015, his single "Hurricane" reached the Top Ten on iTunes' country chart and he quickly followed up with his third EP, This One's for You, later that year. Over the course of 2016, "Hurricane" continued to gain steam, winding up at number one on Billboard's Country Airplay charts in May of 2017. The single's success led to Combs signing with Riverhouse/Columbia Nashville, which released his full-length debut, also called This One's for You, in June 2017. Along with "Hurricane," the album featured two other chart-topping singles with "When It Rains It Pours" and "One Number Away." ~ Timothy Monger
