Album Review

The first album to be released under the Sammy Hagar & the Circle moniker, At Your Service finds the red rocker rocking out with Michael Anthony (bass), Jason Bonham (drums), and Vic Johnson (guitar) live on the group's 2014 tour. Hagar likens the quartet to a circle because with the bandmembers' shared experience he "can play from every era, from Montrose to Van Halen to solo, Chickenfoot and some Led Zeppelin." The two-disc set features 19 tracks, including hits like "There's Only One Way to Rock," "Why Can't This Be Love," "I Can't Drive 55," "Finish What Ya Started," "Dreams," and "Whole Lotta Love."

Zepplin and Van Hagar!!!

WOW!!! Another great idea from Sammy and Mike. This live album is a 1,000 times better than Van Halen’s new Live at Tokyo album. Sammy and Mike sound tight as ever and Sammy still has the golden tone in his voice. Jason Bonham is outstanding as always and nails both the Led Zeppelin and Van Halen classics (which is not easy task) effortlessly. Vic Johnson is very much an underrated guitar player. Vic’s guitar sounds crisp, alive, and has great tone.
Somehow I find the timing of Sammy and Mike’s live album with Van Halen’s live Toyko album coming out at the same time more than just a bit ironic. Eddie should be embarrassed as “The Circle” makes what is left of the current Van Halen lineup look old, washed up, and really pathetic.

Way to go Mike

Eddie Vanhalen the Charlie sheen of rock and roll.

Proof that rOcK n’ RoLL is alive and kickin’!

We saw these guys at Sammy’s Birthday bash in Vegas 10/2014. FANTASTIC concert, music and sound.

This is pretty much the setlist from that show. Just check out the songs and the musicians on this recording…. WOW! Who can pull off a setlist like this other than the Red Rocker and his buddies Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson. After one listen you’ll know you just can’t go wrong enjoying some of the best songs ever, played by 4-top notch musicians having a genuine fun time playing. No ego’s here!

Thanks for making this recording so we can enjoy it in the car! See ya’ April 2015 for back-to-back “the Circle” shows here in Florida.

After spending several years as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the mid-'70s hard rock band Montrose, Sammy Hagar began a solo career that produced several hits and made him an album rock favorite. Hagar became a true star once he joined Van Halen in 1985, but he'd been a popular hard rocker ever since his first album with Montrose.
