Editors’ Notes

Vince Gill’s career hit its commercial zenith with this 1994 chart juggernaut. The country heartthrob’s incandescent croon is guaranteed to melt ladies’ hearts upon impact. Alongside the ballads—both contemporary- and classic-sounding—that made Gill a phenomenon, there’s a dash of rowdy rock ‘n’ roll (“You Better Think Twice,” “What the Cowgirls Do”) and a soulful splash of gospel (“Go Rest High on That Mountain”), showing off the formidable supply of surprises that this eclectic singer/songwriter had up his sleeve.

What I think of Vince

Vince Gill Rocks!!!!

One of Vince's Best Overall CD's!

This is Vince at his best. This CD contains many of his classics (Whenever You Come Around, When Love Finds You & Go Rest High On That Mountain) as well as a very ballanced country sound Vs a more pop/country sound. Excellent!

Vince Gill At His Best

Every song on this CD is great. I especially love "Go Rest High On That Mountain" that Vince wrote after his brother passed away. His pure tenor voice and velvet delivery on "Whenever You Come Around" is classic Vince. I also like the title track with Vince's plaintive cry for the promise of happiness. Vince's guitar work on the album is first class. He's one of the best guitarists in the country music business. All in all a classic album and an essential for any country music fan.

Starting out as a bluegrass singer and multi-instrumentalist, he initially made his name with country-rockers Pure Prairie League and spent the '80s as part of country's new traditionalist movement before finding massive success as a contemporary country hitmaker. Gill had strong mainstream appeal, yet enough songwriting chops and grounding in tradition that he could maintain...
