Great American Music

I host a weekly independent music podcast called The Great American Music Hour (availalbe on iTunes) and have been playing the music of Andrew Calhoun for some time. He takes you to some serious, heavy places, using the musical language of another era to illuminate our own. "You Will Know God" and "Peach Song" are reminiscent of the weird, old America that doesn't exist much anymore in mainstream culture. This album exhumes old forms and makes them new again. If you want to understand how we got where we are, it is certainly well worth listening to.
