Album Review

Most country acts choose to temper holiday sentimentality with a little religion. Sawyer Brown takes a different approach. As its title telegraphs, Hallelujah He Is Born is a distinctly religious Christmas album — only a handful of songs aren't explicitly religious, and even they have a religious underpinning. That is the saving grace of the album, the one element that makes Hallelujah He Is Born stand out from the pack. The album still has the slick country-pop atmosphere that marks not only Sawyer Brown's work, but contemporary country in general — but its religious conviction makes it one of the more original (and, actually, better) country-pop Christmas records of recent years.

A True Christmas Album

In an industry where every artist puts out a Christmas album whether they believe in Christ or not, it is refreshing to find an album by a group that actually believes and lives out the message of Christ. The songs are original and well-written. Our favorite Christmas album by far. No watered down message here. Dowload this: He Sent a Carpenter

What's not to like!?!

Great album for those who are tiring of the same 10-12 songs being rehashed every year. Sawyer Brown gets it right and scores here. Buy it and enjoy it!

An absolute must!

I'm a Christmas music junkie - and this is one of my all-time favorite albums! I couldn't even choose a favorite song; each and every one is a gem.

The group originally grew out of country-pop singer Don King's touring band, with guitarist Bobby Randall and drummer Joe Smyth signing on in 1979, and bassist Jim Scholten, keyboardist Gregg "Hobie" Hubbard, and guitarist/future lead singer Mark Miller all arriving in 1980. King stopped...
