Customer Reviews

Excellent and Rewarding

The main review is, in a general sense, accurate-- but it misses some important distinctions. The title track is decent, the opening track is strong, and the album does take some strange disco turns-- all as stated. But, Frampton's extraordinary sense of melody, not to mention his emotion-charged guitar work, infuses each track (as well as the overall album) with an energy that engages and moves the listener. Where I Should Be may not be as memorable or devastating as Frampton Comes Alive!-- you won't be overwhelmed by it-- but it IS filled with hooks and melodies that grab you at first listen, then grow on you over time. I bought the cassette about twenty years ago & liked it reasonably well (it always paled next to "the live album"), but I've only just now realized how much I've missed it through the current digital age. In short, this is a very underestimated work that greatly rewards repeat listenings.
