Inspired by his parents' encouragement on piano and drums as a boy, songwriter/performer Michael Mott says he always called himself a “closet composer, because I was always performing and just writing on the side.” The 2007 Ithaca College grad initially made his mark performing in New York. Then he recorded his independently produced musicals Faustus and Mob Wife with Broadway arranger Kim Schamberg before signing with Broadway Records and again teaming with the arranger to produce this star-studded showcase of his songs. “Together, we have assembled a phenomenal list of singers and musicians who best represent the eclectic styles of music represented on this album,” Mott says. “We’ve paired these amazing artists with songs from my catalog, including pieces from Faustus and Mob Wife, as well as some of my stand-alone pop, jazz, and swing songs. The whole album really tells a story that’s representative of me and my journey, and I hope everyone will be able to relate to its message."
That's it. That's the whole album. That's all that matters. Let alone his duet with Laura Osnes ("Dare to Dream") is the most beautiful thing to happen since Bonnie and Clyde. Plus there's BEN!!! Fankhouser ftw! Frikkin' beautiful, man
Perfect for singing along, dancing, or listening at home
I came for the big performers, stayed for the awesome music! "Gone" performed by Ben Fankhauser is my favorite, especially singing at the top of my lungs when I'm home alone. I played "Don't Stop Dancing" for my friends and it became an impromptu dance party. My friends and I were geeking out over the harmonies in "Dare to Dream." This album has a song for every occasion, from doing dishes to studying to spending quiet nights in. I would definitely recommend!!
Good stuff all around
This CD serves up more emotions than a high school girl on prom night. Mott has got his finger on the pulse of today's young people. He knows what life is.
