Joe Thomas New Man

Joe is seriously underrated and this album as a result did not get the airtime that it should have except for ER and Why Just Be Friends. It is an excellent album with all good cuts. It follwoed Ain't Nothin Like Me in 2008 and it delievered big time. The cut "Man in your life" is an example of Joe being intuned with his listeners and the reason why we love him so much and why he has a very loyal fan base. I especially like the idea that he previews snippets from his next album on this one so that when I picked up Signature I already knew some of the songs on it. I love Joe and I absolutely love this album because it shows off his beautiful voice and melodies.

He was certainly not the only flautist huffing and puffing over strong backbeats in the '70s and '80s, the era's popular players in this style including Herbie Mann, Jeremy Steig, and Hubert Laws. Thomas' masterwork in this genre might be considered to be "Funky Fever," more than ten minutes of jamming that has been described as "jazzy disco funk boogie,"...
