iTunes Review

This album is Mastered for iTunes. Considering her four fruitful decades of acting in TV, film, and theater, you have to wonder why it took Rita Wilson so long to record her debut album—especially when AM/FM is overflowing with such fetching covers of classic radio hits. She follows The Everly Brothers’ approach to Felice and Boudleaux Bryant's 1958 gem "All I Have to Do Is Dream," complete with close high-lonesome harmonies. Conversely, she deviates from The Association’s sunshine-pop take on Don and Dick Addrisi’s epic serenade “Never My Love,” going for a pristinely produced adult-contemporary folk-rock rendition (save for a '60s-toned organ solo). From the same family tree, “Cherish” gets a similar treatment, swapping out those mohair-suited harmonies for a piano-based ballad that lets Wilson's silky voice carry the melody to astral heights. More AM than FM, Wilson's treatment of Chip Taylor’s “Angel of the Morning” strips away its '70s sepia hues for an sparklingly effervescent rendition. Even Jimmy Webb’s “Wichita Lineman” sounds easier on the ears when sung over spare piano notes through Wilson’s honeyed timbre.

Long OverDue

Admirable Debut Effort, Great Song List, but Why Now.
This is an Album that should have been released years
Hopefully, Ms Wilson will not let this be a One Time Thing.

Impossibly good.

Rita Wilson has done the impossible. She's made an album of songs from the 60's and 70's that doesn't sound like a vanity project at all. In some cases, her arrangements surpass the originals. Two songs deserve special attention. "Angel Of The Morning" and "Please Come to Boston" were both huge hits that have since become elevator and supermarket music staples. Wilson has stripped the slickness out of them, and they're now the personal love songs that they always should have been. Please listen to every song. Rita Wilson could have been one of the great vocalists of the singer/songwriter 70's alongside Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, and Joni Mitchell. Buy this album. Rita Wilson Hanks may not need the money, but you need this music.

No Auto Tune and I Love It.

I check out new releases every Tuesday. It never occurred to me that this was rita Wilson the actress, producer wife of…
I loved this album before I realized it was her. The fact that her voice isn't auto tuned to death is remarkable these days, but it's why the album works. Her voice is lovely and communicates the deeper messages with such beautiful nuance. Never My Love is one of my favorites. Others are her stunning take on Faithless Love, Please Come to Boston made tears come to my eyes. Don't know why, but it happened and I rarely shed a tear. This is an album that will be perfect for rainy days and and sunny cookouts.
BTW. I'm primarily a metal head. It makes no sense to like only one type of music.

Genre: Drama

Rita Wilson has enjoyed a long and successful career in show business as an actress, producer, director, and writer, but it wasn't until 40 years after she made her television debut that she branched out into a new line as a pop singer. Wilson was born Margarita Ibrahimoff on October 26, 1956 in Los Angeles, California. She made her screen debut in 1966 as an extra in the Elvis Presley vehicle Spinout, but she began her career proper as a teenager, appearing on a 1972 episode of The Brady Bunch....
