Puts The 'E' In Easy Listening

Came here searching for a couple of songs from my distant past that I wanted to add to my collection. Noel Harrison had two that were on my 'hitlist'. Once I found 'Suzanne' and 'Windmills Of Your Mind' I decided to give the album a try. I had expected it to be easy listening from Jump Street because Noel Harrison doesn't exactly have a booming set of pipes, nor much of a vocal range. His cup of tea is captured very nicely in this collection though. The vocals are pretty standard and the accompanying music blends nicely. However, there isn't really much in the way of variety and after a couple of listens all the songs sound pretty much the same. IT clearly defines the term 'Easy Listening', if you catch my drift. Matter of fact, I'd go so far as to say that on a whole, this album puts the 'E' in easy listening. It's pleasant though.

The haunting single had received a boost when it was featured prominently in the Steve McQueen film The Thomas Crown Affair one year earlier, and thanks to the exposure, the single hit number eight on the charts in Britain. Harrison began his mainstream recording career in 1966 with a self-titled LP for Decca, but he had previously been in the public...
