Not enough recognition....

Sophie Barker's album "Earthbound" is a wonderfully eclectic mix of softer melodies and interesting electric-like songs. My personal favorite is "Angel" with an almost Thom-Yorke like composition, haunting vocals and nicely mixed. Another great one is "Secret", Barker's accent seems to come out mostly in this song. Overall I feel it's a great CD, refreshing and enjoyable. If you like her songs with Zero 7 you should definately check this one out!

What a find

I first heard Sophie Barkers voice from Zero 7's first few albums, and loved how soothing and natural she sounded. This is a great album to relax to and just forget about some of the worlds problems. I hope she comes out with another album soon.

Sophie Barker's voice has graced Zero 7's music on some of their best songs, and on this album she has teamed up with Cocteau Twin's Robin Guthrie who provided guitar ambience and engineering on half the songs, resulting in a well produced and beautiful work of art. Songs like "Stop Me", "Wintertime" and "Start Me" have a bit in common with later Cocteau Twins songs, where "Dreamlife", "On My Way Home" and "Stumble" are a bit like folky pop songs you would hear in a dream. I'd recommend buying the whole album.
