iTunes Review

A 1981 bridge between old-school U.K. metal of the Motörhead/Saxon stripe and thrash, death, and especially black metal yet to be born, Venom’s debut sounds like it was cranked out in a bomb shelter with dirt falling into the instruments. The superbly slimy “In League With Satan” and “Welcome to Hell” are no less catchy for their demonic subject matter, while “Live Like an Angel” and the brothel-hopping “Red Light Fever” give bikers and street punks something raunchy to die for.

Venome has to be one of the the best metal bands
