These guys have come a long way since their first EP. I'll be rocking this album for a while!

Great Album

When I saw that Legacy had been on EDIU’s Seeing Clearly tour, I decided to check them out and, to be honest, I wasn’t all that impressed. However, I took a listen to their first single ‘Fears’ when inVogue released it. After that, I took a liking to the clean vocals and I pre-ordered the album after that. It wasn’t until I actually heard the album in full that I realized that it wasn’t the cleans that made the album shine, it was all the backing guitars and drums that made this album a keeper for me. I must say, this album absolutely exceeded all my expectations.

I would rate the tracks as:

Intentions - 9/10 - The heaviest song on the album is also the first. Normally this kind of all-screaming song wouldn’t be to my liking; but this one is, for all intents and purposes, great.

Disbeliefs - 10/10 - One of the best all-around songs on the album. The cleans is this album are a real hit-or-miss, but in this song, they are fantastic. One of the best choruses on the album. Also probably some of the best screams are in the verses. Just awesome.

Blindfolds - 10/10 - The longest song on the album is also one of my favorites. There’s nothing really special about it up until about 1:30 left, when there is one of those melodic breakdowns very similar to Sienna Skies’ ‘To All Aspiring,’ which remains one of my favorite post-hardcore songs ever.

Illusions - 7/10 - The screams on this song are chilling, but (like I said before, the cleans are a real hit-or-miss) the cleans are not very good at all. It almost sounds like they got a new singer, which was not a good move on their part. Still, the screams are what keeps this song going.

Burdens - 10/10 - Again, an all-around great song. The chorus is much better than Illusions, and the screams are pretty noteworthy, too. The guitars and drums really shine through on this track, which is what makes this one a great song.

Vices - 8/10 - There’s really not much to say about this song. It’s not anything groundbreaking, but it does keep the album going.

Fears - 9/10 - The first song I heard on the album, and it will probably be the most popular. The build-up to the chorus is pretty cool, and so is the song’s structure. Starting out with a breakdown is one way to attract a lot of hardcore fans.

Demons, Curses, Barriers - 11/10 - It really doesn’t get much better than these three. The reason why I group them all together is because they’re all so great that it would be pointless to rate them seperately. Curses is my favorite on the album, mainly because there is absolutely no intro nor outro. It starts at 0:00 and ends at 3:10.

Tracks to get: Disbeliefs, Demons, Curses, Burdens

Overall rating: 9.5/10
