Album Review

This is a good example of Winter's nature-conscious music, as he has incorporated the sounds of birds, wolves, and humpback whales into his ensemble. It's surprising how close such wild animals come to playing pop music.

The Original

This album stands at the fork in the road to two "new" musical movements - New Age Jazz and World Music -- but like many progenitors, it is superior to its offspring in being totally original, both in concept and in execution. This is really an album made by people with ideals about peace, communal living, and the environment who also happen to be top-notch musicians. Their blending of animal recordings with live music shows a degree of creativity and just plain sensitivity that has to be heard in the dark, lying on your back with headphones on, to be truly appreciated. This disk belongs in every library.
