EDITORS’ NOTES

The fierce sense of independence that permeates Keyshia Cole’s fifth studio effort is no coincidence: Woman to Woman is the songwriter’s first LP without the assistance of longtime collaborator Ron Fair or career-guiding manager Manny Halley. The songwriter’s liberation is palpable on the lead-off single, “Enough of No Love” (which has a skillful verse from Lil Wayne), and the self-confident title track (a duet with Ashanti). But the collection’s depth comes from its quality deep cuts; check out the hook of “Hey Sexy” (produced by The-Dream) and the throwback wah-wah groove of “Who’s Gonna Hold Me Down.”
