i love this man

I think Woody Allen is a genius, ever since I saw Annie Hall I've been obsessed with him... When I saw Sleeper I knew for sure he was brilliant. His comedy is so subtle (most of the time) and his musings on life and death and sex are hilarious. Listen to this! It's worth it. If you're a fan, then it's definitely something you should have.

This is a series of interviews by the author of an intended book on comedy apparently for novices aimed into the profession. It must have been recorded more than 45 years ago. The questions asked Woody are pretty shallow and his responses, although thoughtful, are not very articulate. It's a subject better addressed by a professor and not a performer. Woody frequently admits, during this badly recorded hollow sounding interview, that no comic really understands what makes them funny. So why ask, then? He makes some basic points about writing and performing comedy but it's awfully simplistic and, frankly, boring. If it's laughs (contained in an interview) then forget this lackluster and ancient stab at "explaining" comedy. I'm a monster fan of Woody Allen but this is a college course (Comedy 101) and embarrassingly uninformative. ---Joypebble
