10 Songs, 42 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

No longer a precocious child star but not yet the King of Pop, Michael Jackson hooked up with producer Quincy Jones for this 1979 solo breakthrough—a disco-era masterpiece propelled by gleaming melodies, compulsive grooves, and some of Jackson’s most spectacular performances. While it contains a handful of his signature, heart-tugging ballads, Off the Wall is also incredibly funky: From the sinuous sway of “Rock with You” to the glittering rush of “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough,” these tracks will never cease to fill dance floors.

When Michael was "The Man"

Let me tell you all that "Off the Wall" is "Off the Hook". It had a string of hits starting with the title track and including, "Don't Stop'Til You Get Enough", "Rock With You", "Workin' Day and Night" and so on. This is the album that establish Michael as a fantastic solo artists and began what we call today "Popstars". Ask any one of them from Justin Timberlake to Madonna and see if they don't own this album and love it. West coast or East.

listenable at any time, anywhere.

put his strangeness aside; music will never be crafted like this again, ever. so much work, so much talent -yet it flows effortlessly. thank you mike and Q. (but -it does sound best on vinyl)
