Editors’ Notes

One of the most promising emcees coming out of Brooklyn, Skyzoo has been around for a more than a minute. His profile has been steadily rising over the last few years, thanks to quality releases like The Salvation and Live from the Tapedeck, as well as a slew of solid mixtapes. On this one, he adds four new tracks to his recent project The Great Debate, making a great listen even better. Skyzoo's style isn't thugged-out gangster, fashion-show hipster, ballerific hustler, or save-the-world revolutionary. What is it? Something that’s been sorely missing in the game: straight-up hip-hop with whip-smart lyrics, varied concepts, and an original flow, all laid over dope boom-bap production from the likes of 9th Wonder, Ill Mind, Oh No, Best Kept Secret, and Swiff D. There's really not a weak track on here, but "Rap Like Me," "We Here," "Until It All Goes," and "Get Him to the Greek" are especially nice. Don't miss this one.

Real Hip-Hop

I rep that real hip-hop and this is it Skyzoo much love

If you're here, you probably already know how dope Skyzoo (and this tape) is. If you stumbled upon this, prepare to be wowed. Sky been around for awhile, and everything he drops is crazy. This was originally a free mixtape, so it's been around for a little bit, and yes, it's well worth your time and money. Hell, the original TGD is worth it, nevermind the fact there's 4 new tracks tacked on.

I tweeted Sky earlier making sure this is legit, and it is indeed from him, and purchasing does put $$$ in his pocket. So don't the buy button and give the man some support. He deserves it.

Also, if you're new to him, check out The Salvation (my favorite), Live From the Tape Deck (with Illmind...dope) & Cloud 9: The 3 Day High (with 9th Wonder...first time I heard him years ago) next, and then grab his other mixtapes. You can thank me later.

whatever reason brought you here

this is like aged rum for those with a mature hip-hop palate, you keep coming back with a greater appreciation of it spin after spin.

Aside from his rhyming skills and bright prospects, Skyzoo was once known most for his loss to fellow rapper Jin on BET's 106 & Park freestyle contest. Nonetheless, the New York MC launched his career by landing theme tracks for ESPN and Guinness beer, building his own Custom Made Entertainment company, and securing a relationship with North Carolina rap crew the Justus League. The Brooklynite was born Justin Taylor on December 24, 1982, in Crown Heights but spent much of his youth just south of...
