EDITORS’ NOTES

One of the dopest hip-hop producers banging beats out on the MPC, Jamaica, Queens representative X-Ray has spent the better part of the new millennium gracing fans with a barrage of top-notch material. Known for his distinctive blend of punishing drum breaks, sinister samples, and well-placed cinematic snippets, he's been the main sonic architect behind records from MF DOOM (Operation: Doomsday), Monsta Island Czars (Escape from Monsta Island), Kwite Def (Artz & Craftz, Uppanotch (No Greater Love), and Darc Mind (Symptomatic of a Greater Ill). His first all-instrumental album, The Ear Hustler includes a few verse-less versions of older tracks, but consists mostly of all brand-new work perfectly suited for cruising through the grimier boroughs late at night, or setting off a cypher with your local most rugged MCs. Every track on here has that distinctive Mindbenda sound, don't sleep on "Show Me the Way," "One Eye Open," "The Golden Elite," the hypnotic, vibraphone-laced "Good Handz."
