Y Goreuon Ar Sain

For those of you who usually think of Irish or Scottish bands when celtic music is mentioned, and I count myself a great fan of the likes of "Patrick Street" and "The Tannahill Weavers" not to mention a host of other fine celtic/folk bands, you might just be missing something of rare vibrance and beauty in this genre if you haven't yet heard Mabsant. I was first introduced to the group when I happened to participate in a local Welsh folk dance group here in the U.S.A. At one annual gathering in our area of Welsh folk art promoters I happened to buy an earlier tape by this group, "Ton Gron"--my apologies to any authentic Welshmen since my keyboard doesn't support a good use of the circumflex--and within a week my wife and I were absolutely mesmerized by Siwsan George's vocals and first rate instrumentals backing her up. This album listed by I-tunes is certainly no exception to Mabsant's earlier efforts and the addition of a very skilled harpist, Robin Huw Bowen--I think--really rounds out the band's instrumental effects very nicely. Kudos to I-tunes library for including this rare gem.
