A Modern Classic

This masterwork falls into the category of "definitive" along with albums like Eagles -Hotel California, Springsteen - Born To Run, and Fleetwood Mac - Rumours. It is easily Al Stewart's most accessible album and is polished by the exceptional production value of Alan Parsons. It holds up in 2007 as well as it did in 1977. My sole regret with digital format is the lack of the full size album cover with it's amazing cover art that defined the music inside.

Where's the rest?

Al Stewart is a great artist, especially live. My question is when is Itunes going to offer his live album? It has an incredible version of Nostradamus, along with all his other hits prior to Time Passages. My album to tape to CD has deteriorated significantly and I need to replace it.

Great album -- but better on CD!

If you buy the special edition CD version there's a 10-minute bonus track whereby Mr Stewart explains the meanings behind each and every song, well worth the extra bob.

He's been influenced by several notables, to be sure, including his fellow Scot (and slightly younger contemporary) Donovan, as well as Ralph McTell, Bob Dylan, and John Lennon — but apart...
