iTunes Editors’ Notes

Call him the reluctant balladeer: Jason Mraz has joked that although he listens to experimentalists like Wilco and Radiohead, he can't help but write classically mellow adult contemporary pop. His latest, Yes!, is aural incense; it's an all-acoustic album that gently fills the room with chillaxed vibes. Mraz covers Boyz II Men on "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye" and sprinkles in some tropical touches on "Back to the Earth." Supported by all-female folk-rockers Raining Jane, the album is an intimate affair; it's more relaxed than its predecessor, 2012's Love Is a Four Letter Word. With its sunny harmonies and sultry climax, "Long Drive" epitomizes the record's Sunday-stroll feel.

Customer Reviews

ALL STAR!

J.M. always gives 100% so I have no doubt this will be superb, based on the first release. For an artist whose been topping the charts for closing on 15 years, I'm always intrigued by where his evolution as a musician will take him, and us!

Can we go back to 2008?

It has sadly been since 2008 and "We sing, We dance..." that we have heard and experienced the Jason Mraz that many fans fell in love with during his Live at Java Joe's years. A simple YouTube search of "Jason Mraz 2008" (or any previous year) will display the stark contrast between his passion infused music then and what he has released ever since. There are still things that some people will enjoy here, but it's simply not the same...let's go back to 2008.

Hopeful

What happened to the freestylin', quick lyrics, and upbeat attitude? Crossing my fingers that the rest of the album is more impressive.
