Customer Reviews

What can you say about a recording arranged by Don Sebesky, produced by Rudy Van Gelder with Jim Hall, Ron Carter, Roland Hanna, Steve Gadd, Chett Baker and Paul Desmon except that it is one of a kind, outstanding. The highlight is Concierto De Aranjuez. The feeling and expression by each musician individually and in suport of the group can be felt in every note and phrase. Most of the players are gone now and have yet to be replaced.

Originally recorded in 1975, Concierto was a project started by Don Sebesky and Jim Hall. In its time, it didn't receive widespread acceptance at first but was later to be a much sought after recording. I was able to find a used LP that I treasure to this day. It is nice to hear the recording without the expected pops and scratches although I sometimes almost miss them.

Thanks to whoever decided to re-release this treasure.

Concierto: Among the very best

The interplay and sensitivity between the musicians on "Concierto" is of the same caliber as you find with Miles and his boys on "Kind of Blue". I have been listening to both since the vinyl days; they are eternally new, always heartfelt, and should be in the core of any collection. Listen often, listen close, allow no distractions, share them both with your intimates.

This is amazing!

It was happy meeting.

I strongly recommend this.

A harmonically advanced cool-toned and subtle guitarist, Jim Hall was an inspiration to many guitarists, including some (such as Bill Frisell) who sound nothing like him. Hall attended the Cleveland Institute of Music and studied classical guitar in Los Angeles with Vicente Gómez. He was an original member of the Chico Hamilton Quintet (1955-1956), and during 1956-1959 was with the Jimmy Giuffre Three. After touring with Ella Fitzgerald (1960-1961) and sometimes forming duos with Lee Konitz, Hall...
