iTunes Review

Breezy, baby-faced, modern R&B, with just the slightest hint of stubble. Chris Brown’s breakthrough debut is the aural equivalent of his dance moves: mesmerizingly fluid, effortlessly seductive, a late-’80s/early’90s Jackson flashback (both Janet and Michael) with 21st-century attitude. Bolstered by brawny beats that add some heft to his airy tenor, the teenaged Brown flirts (“Yo (Excuse Me Miss),” “Run It!”) and opines (“Say Goodbye”) over zippy synths and sentimental piano, respectively, wearing both his bravado and his heart on his rolled-up sleeve.

Who cares what you think?!?!

I though that this was an amazing album, no matter what anybody thinks! He did a great job and plus he was only 16. You need to stop hating on him. He is a great singer an this album has some terrific songs. I <3 Chris Brown!!

I miss him!

Man, this album is great. I've been a Chris Brown fan ever scince Run It hit the charts. I think this album should be R&B, but what do I know? All I know is, that even though there are some flaws, (Chris, just because you title a song What's my Name, and everybody knows that's a cool phrase, doesn't make the song cool) the album is awesome! Thanks for adding the So So Def remix of Run It.

While there was nowhere to go but down, at least in terms of chart positions, the pop-oriented R&B vocalist was only getting started. By the end of the decade, he was one of the biggest active pop stars, with a clutch of Top Ten singles and platinum albums to his...
