Customer Reviews

Not great.

I really do not see great quality in this new album.
Her songwriting seems to have lost its original sincerity, thought, and emotion. She has turned to simple pop lyrics and melody. Most of this album is not even worth the buy.
I also do not think it was a very good choice to have Star Recording produce the album. The album exhibits the style of this recording studio which does not help Digby's songs at all.

Digby Does It Again!

Marie Digby has returned to her singer-songwriter roots with her new release "Your Love". The CD is a terrific blend of her stunning vocals and some love struck songwriting. In addition to Marie's lovely vocals we have some great duets as an added bonus. Along with the title track..we have some real gems from the past..."Swoon"...a feel good tune guessed it...LOVE!

This is her first release on the Star Records label based in the Phillipines...and it has taken off like crazy....with a little help from her friends...the Digbyholics!

To sum it up...Marie you have done it again...way to go!

Grab tracks 1-5 and skip the rest

Marié Digby might very well be the most mishandled artist I've ever followed. From the ill conceived label manipulation of her 'grass roots' origins, to the over produced R&B synth pop production of her sophomore album, to this more filler than meat third outing, the music industry does not know what to do with her.

The good: There is a solid EP here that should have been marketed and sold as an EP. If you liked Unfold, you're going to like tracks 1-5 without reservation. It's the sort of pairing of Digby's beautiful, expressive voice with soft melodies that made Unfold such a pleasure.

The bad: Everything else is filler. Two tracks are either exactly the same as bonus track versions of these songs that appeared back in 2008 or re-recordings so similar I can't tell the difference. One track is just a duet rehash of the title track with yet another reality TV "star" who thinks they can sing shoved on the album to appeal to the Filipino audiences Star Records normally produces for. Most egregiously, six tracks are just karaoke versions of the five original tracks (they had the chutzpah to include two karaoke versions for the same song with only the tiniest of differences between the solo and duet version arrangements) - even in Asian markets, where including the karaoke versions with *singles* is standard practice, albums are actually albums.

So, I'm giving the album 4 stars because I'm only counting the 5 track EP and not the *nine* tracks of pure filler the label added on to try and sell it for full price. Otherwise, I'd not be able to give it more than 2 stars given the egregious use of filler to try and fluff the bottom line.
